NCNST Director Scholarship Prize for Year 2017
Every year, NCNST offers several scholarships to award the students with outstanding achievements. NCNST Director Prize is one of them. The scholarship is based on the quality of the research and scholastic performance of the past academic year. This year three International students were awarded with the prize after fierce competitions.
Tofik Ahamd won the First Class NCNST Director Prize while Kamran Amin and Jabran Saleem got the Second Prize. Congratulations to their excellent achievements.
Tofik Ahmed received his BSc degree in Applied Chemistry from Arbaminch University, Ethiopia in 2007. He then obtained his MSc. degree in Analytical Chemistry from Haramaya University, Ethiopia in 2011. Currently, he is pursuing a PhD degree under the supervision of Prof. Jun He at National Center for Nanoscience and Technology (NCNST), Beijing, China. His research focuses on the controllable synthesis of Earth-abundant functional nanostructure for water splitting. He is also the excellent student of NCNST for the year 2017 and also the active member of international student union of NCNST. In 2017 he published several papers including; Small, 2017, 1603706, DOI: 10.1002/smll.201603706, Nano Energy 40 (2017) 673–680, Nanoscale, 2017, 9, 5641
Jabran Saleem Received his BS degree form Preston Institute of Nanoscience and Technology (PINSAT) Islamabad, Pakistan. Now he is PhD student at National Centre for Nanoscience and Technology (NCNST), Beijing, under supervision of Professor Chunying Chen. He joined NCNST in September 2016. His research directions include in depth study of biological interactions of novel 2D-nanomaterials. The project includes studying interaction of proteins with novel 2D-nanomaterials, their interaction with immune system, their pulmonary toxicity in mice and effect on mononuclear immune cells. He published a review paper in journal Nano impact (NanoImpact, 2017, 5: 109-118)
Kamran Amin completed his BS in Nanoscience and Technology from Preston Institute of Nanoscience and Technology (PINSAT) Islamabad and joined CAS Key Laboratory of Nanosystem and Hierarchical Fabrication at NCNST as Master student in September 2016. He is working under the supervision of professor Dr. Wei Zhixiang. His research directions include flexible charge storage devices. Recently his first author, peer reviewed paper was accepted in Advanced Materials. He is also the president of international students union and student assistant to graduate students department.
