National Center for Nanoscience and Technology (NCNST) was officially founded on December 31, 2003, with the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Peking University and Tsinghua University as its cofounders. NCNST exercises supervision over and is supported by several national-level nano technology committees and subcommittees. It has six laboratories that cover the research fields of theory, measurement, nanomanufacturing, nanomaterials, biological effects and nanodevices.
NCNST has 836 graduate students (including 135 international students from over 15 countries), and they are playing an important role in research institutes and various industries throughout the world. At present, the total amount of enrolled students in the center are 426, among whom 216 are PhD. students and 210 are Master students.
NCNST encourages and supports students' pursuits for academic excellence and competencies development in their graduate education. It provide services and programs to individual students in all aspects of their student life.
